Valentine's High Tea

Welcome friends for a special Valentine's tea this week.  Tea Time magazine did a feature on tea houses in Florida last year and I made a note of a few in the Gulf area where we're staying.
Instead of having tea at home, I'm taking you to 'A Corner of England' with me for high tea where the staff is friendly, and co-owner Danielle was pleased that I'd read the article in Tea Time.
Just inside the door are some pretty hats to wear if you want...
and there are shelves of china, tea and gifts to buy.

Our table was waiting upon our arrival... yes, a reservation for 2.  I dragged DH along with me and it wasn't his first time to a tea room, nor likely will it be his last.  (he reads my blog:-)
A teacup with roses was my choice for the Victorian Earl Grey tea I ordered.
I had the chilled strawberry soup while DH had a hot tomato bisque.  Oops, I had the soup half eaten before I remembered to take a picture of it.
The 3 tiered curate was filled with delicious hot and cold sweets and savouries.
I asked Danielle for the secret to the thin bread of her delectable sandwiches.
It's Pepperidge Farm very thin slices which are perfect for dainty fare.
DH chose chocolate cake for dessert while I had a flaky scone with jam and Devon cream.
I hope anyone visiting the area of Florida where A Corner of England is,  can have tea there too.

We all have inspirational blogs we like to visit and one of mine is Georgianna Lane Photography.  I've ordered prints from Georgianna and love to peruse her work, especially the new Paris additions. A favourite is this photo with the gerbera daisies in antique blue Ball preserving jars.  The faded butterfly in the background makes me smile.
Only once have I seen one of these jars at our antique mall and I didn't pick it up.  When I went back, of course it was gone.  Poking around in an antique store amongst the souvenir shops here, I found a shelf with several of the jars.  3 came away with me for my Valentine's gift from DH; add some fragrant carnations, and I created my own display with a butterfly from Picnik.  Thank you for the inspiration dear G.
I'm linking with Sandi at Rose Chintz Cottage, Trisha at Sweetology, Bernideen at her Tea Time Blog, Ruth at Antiques and Teacups and Kathy at A Delightsome Life.
Wishing you all a very happy Valentine's Day!

Hello Judith,
What a wonderful outing with your hubby! It looks like a lovely place to have tea.

My hubby's only complaint is the prices in a Tea Room.

That teapot is so pretty and the food looks delicious.
Love your jars! I don't see many of them around here either.

I'm so glad you got to enjoy the tea room and wouldn't it have been fun if we could have all joined you?

Happy Valentines Day, my friend. Thank you for taking the time to post even while on vacation.

Hugs,
Sandi

Hello, Judith

Your flowers look very pretty arranged in the blue jars. I've noticed blue ones on several blogs but don't recall seeing any on this side of the border. I wonder if they were only originally sold in the US market?

Hello Judith, what a great find in your blue canning jars. The flowers look so pretty in them.
How wonderful to go to a tea room. I tryed to go to two tea rooms around Gainsville where we are staying, but both were closed. I was so disapointed as the closest tea room at home is about two hours away. Would be great to meet you and go to tea, but we only have a RV here, no car.
Have a wonderful vacation!
