The Squirrels of the Hood

There's been a lot of bird activity in the backyard lately and the squirrels are right in there stuffing their little faces.  The small fruits from our dwarf crabapple 'Profusion' become the centre of attention in late fall.  The birds will be lucky though if there's any left for winter.
They wait their turn for the feeders in the trees.
I'm linking with Macro Monday.

I really like these photos, Judith. The animals and the touch of red are gorgeous. Although I like all of them, the one of the bird would be so pretty on a greeting card or in a frame hanging on your wall.

Sweet photos of the squirrel and bird in the berry bush. We only have grey and red squirrels here in NB. I thought I should let you know that Mary's Little Red House just posted that she is not having Mosaic Monday this week as she is still without power. I can't imagine what I'd do without power for that long! Blessings, Pamela

Those darn squirrels can be greedy little critters. Cute photos.

Always interesting to see the different squirrels in the various parts of the world. They are quite handsome, but I'm sure they eat a lot of things that you'd prefer to see go for the birds. Ahhh well, what's a little squirrel to do?

I see that. Here too only they are eating the rose hips. Valerie

Hi Judith, The black squirrels are so cute! We only have red squirrels here. There are several communities in Iowa where I've seen black squirrels, but not here. I think the deer have been eating crabapples off our tree. Hope your wknd was good!

I love black squirrels.. I was just reading an article on them in our Outdoor News the other day.
Our trees have been cleared for quite a while here.. we had a flock of Cedar Waxwing clean them out on their way by. They were gluttons like your squirrel - the photos remind me of them. :) http://ourfunwithfive.blogspot.com/2012/08/cedar-waxwings-our-15th-anniversary.html

Gorgeous images Judith.
Squirrels fascinate me - we don't have them in New Zealand - they look so cute. We have possums which are nocturnal and weird!!!

Thank you so much for letting me know about Mary, I've visited her and left a message.

OH, what cute little squirrels! You got the greatest photos of them. Once we had gathered our English walnuts and put them in a wagon and topped it with a piece of plywood but those little critters would lift the plywood with their heads and they emptied the whole wagon!!!

Love your post today! Your squirrel seems to be darker in nature than the USA squirrels. He's really gorgeous. Very NICE photos!
